Can a job-coater ever be environmentally friendly?
Everyone is talking about environmental protection. About conscious consumption, preserving biodiversity and climate targets. How does EOT, as a job-coater, fit into this picture? Surface technology is dirty, pollutes the air and discharges contaminated wastewater into rivers. OR?
Our contribution to the planet of tomorrow
We need protection against corrosion today. We will still need our raw materials tomorrow. That's why we use them very consciously.
Raw materials
In over 40 years of company history, we have built up a network of suppliers who place just as much value on environmental protection as we do. Since we have chosen mainly German dealers and producers, we can rely on their compliance with strict environmental guidelines - and usually even beyond. We also always keep the big picture in mind when it comes to material selection and composition. So we don't rely on supposed environmental promises, but critically scrutinise the result. And if in doubt, we decide to go against the mainstream. For example, we deliberately chose a solvent-based coating instead of a water-based one. Because here, first impressions are deceptive: the bottom line is that this variant is significantly more environmentally friendly. In our coating process, we make full use of resources. By optimising the processes, we have been able to reduce waste to a minimum. And we even deal with it responsibly: Instead of sending it for disposal, we have it recycled.
Electricity
Our goal: 100 % clean electricity for your microcor coating. That's why we already generate our own electricity in our combined heat and power plant - from the exhaust air of our coating systems. And at the same time, we are working on further solutions that will make us independent of electricity supplies from conventional power plants.
Fossil energy
The coating process requires a lot of energy - which we currently still obtain in part from fossil raw materials. However, our goal is to gradually make ourselves independent of fossil energy sources. With innovative and environmentally friendly solutions. At the same time, we are also looking beyond our coating processes. Because we also want to make microcor more environmentally friendly and independent of fossil energy sources behind the scenes. That is why we are gradually converting our factory transport to modern electric forklifts. And with e-bike leasing, we enable our employees to commute to work in a CO2-neutral way.
Water
We use water for coating with microcor. For pre-treatment as well as for our operational infrastructure. We are aware that clean water is becoming increasingly precious. That's why we recycle our wastewater in our own wastewater treatment plant – and reuse it up to five times before sending it to general drainage.
Air
Surface technology smells? That's right. That's why we have integrated state-of-the-art ventilation systems into our processes. In this way, we keep the air clean both inside the hall for our employees and outside the hall for the environment and local residents. Even the exhaust air is a valuable resource for us. We use the energy stored in it in our combined heat and power units to generate electricity for our company and to heat our offices.
